Shinault recorded an 8:00 et at 74 miles per hour in his dragster to win the event. Lockie Bales was the runner-up with a 10:74 et at 54 mph.
Robert Neal was the winner in the Footbrake Class that kicked off the action for the weekend. Neal raced his Pontiac to a 6:98 et at 88 mph for the win. Tim Douglas was the runner-up in a Pontiac with a 6:98 et at 90 mph.
Ricky Ruiz won the ATV-4 Wheeler Race with an 8:99 et at 60 mph. He was followed by runner-up Doug Pauley with a 12:02 et at 50 mph.
Kevin Halsey was the winner of the Pro Tree Class with a 10:73 et, followed by runner-up Mike Willard with a 10:31 et.
Terry Fulk of Mount Airy, N.C. headlined the night’s racing Aug. 21 as he won the Super Pro Line Class in his Dragster with a 5:20 et at 120 mph. Linn Joines of Sparta, N.C. was the runner-up with a 4:89 et at 129 mph. Hillsville’s Bill Lewis was a semifinalist in a dragster.
John Moore of Princeton, W. Va. won the Elk Creek Gear Jammer Class with a 7:69 et. He topped Clyde Moyers of Lexington with a 6:02 et.
Galax’s Mike Lineberry won the Outlaw Class as he drove his Chevy Camaro to a 5:58 et at 112 mph. Hillsville’s Wayne Horton was the runner-up in his dragster that ran a 4:78 et at 131 mph.
The R-C Towing & Repair Footbrake Class winner was Steve Lyons of Dublin in a Plymouth Duster. Lyons finished with a 6:76 et at 90 mph. Moyers of Lexington was the runner-up in a Chevrolet Corvette with a 5:86 et at 109 mph.
The winner of the DOT Class was Wes Sumner of Troutdale in a Ford that ran a 7:56 et at 78 mph. Robbie Copenhaver of Wytheville was the runner-up in a Chevelle that recorded a 9:17 et at 70 mph.
Steve Horgash of Gray, Tenn. was the winner of the Motorcycle Class as he bested runner-up James Phipps of Pulaski.
