Adam Crotts was dominant on the mound, striking out 14 and allowing just two runs and five hits in a complete-game victory. The senior also went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs to lead a 10-hit outburst for Carroll County (10-5, 7-3 SWD). The win gave Richlands three district losses, tying them with the Cavs and Tazewell in the district, two losses behind SWD leader Abingdon in the loss column. Richlands lost to Abingdon on Friday to drop to fourth in the district standings.
Richlands took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Cody Lockhart’s solo home run before the Cavaliers scored 11 unanswered runs. Carroll took the lead for good with four runs in the bottom of the second. Craig Rosen and Tyler Reavis both hit run-scoring singles in the inning and Crotts added an RBI double.
The Cavs added another run in the third after Zack Edwards was hit by a pitch and scored on Jared Cox’s RBI single. Carroll made it 8-1 in the fourth after a leadoff double by Garrett Nelson, an RBI single from Adam Nester and a run-scoring single by Reavis.
Crotts’ RBI single highlighted a three-run sixth as Carroll pulled away for the victory.
Rosen and Reavis each had two hits, two runs and an RBI for the Cavs. Cox, Nelson and Nester each had one hit in the big win.

Carroll County scored 10 runs in the second inning Thursday to cruise to a 13-1 SWD win at Marion in five innings.
Zack Edwards had a perfect game working until giving up a leadoff single in the fifth inning. He and Lee Underwood combined to allow just two hits and one run.
The Cavs jumped all over Marion in the second. Edwards, Nester and Crotts all had RBI singles and Rosen walked with the bases loaded to highlight the frame. Rosen also ripped a double later in the inning.
Carroll added two more runs in the third as Dillon Bryant ripped a leadoff double and scored on Edwards’ two-run double.
Jordan Lamb scored the second of his two runs in the fifth after Nester reached on a dropped third strike.
Rosen and Edwards both went 2-for-3 to lead the Cavs. Reavis, Crotts, Bryant, Shane Webb and Nester all had a hit apiece for Carroll, while Nester led the team with three runs scored.
