The JH Soccer Academy will host a six-a-side soccer tournament March 6-7 at Carroll County High School.

The tournament was created to support JH Soccer Academy’s new soccer scholarship created for a high school senior that has attended a JH Academy Soccer Camp and also plays for his/her home school’s soccer team. The scholarship and academy are named after the late Joel Howard Harris.

“The JH Soccer Academy was created to give back to our wonderful area,” said Marion Harris, founder of the academy and Joel Howard Harris’ father. “The community was very supportive of our family during the time of his passing, and we have created this scholarship to give back as a token of our appreciation.”

The tournament will guarantee each team at least three games on Saturday and a single elimination format on Sunday for the teams that advance out of their pool. The tournament will have various age groups such as the Adult Open, U19, U15, and U11 divisions. More age groups may be created or combined based on the number of registration applications.

The tournament will also feature a special event titled “Goalie Wars.” This event will be $10 per player and will offer different prizes for each age group. It is important to note this event is open to everyone and not just for goalies.

“This weekend has been designed for everyone from club teams to teams wanting to have a great weekend of fun and for an inexpensive price, while supporting a great cause for the community,” Harris said.

“If lodging is needed, assistance will be provided in placing reservations. I would love to talk to your team more about this weekend. Please contact me at harrismhh@comcast.net or call (276) 733-6698 with any questions that you might have regarding this fun-filled event, or if you’d be interested in sponsoring a team or donating to the scholarship fund.”

Tournament fee is $120 before Feb. 19 and $150 after Feb. 19. Teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Space is limited. Teams can be part of an organized club or can be formed just for this tournament. There will be a maximum of eight players on a roster.
