Paul Edwin "Pete" Kirby, 83, of Galax, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at Waddell Nursing Home. Mr. Kirby was born on July 30, 1926 in Grayson County to Andrew Paul and Imogene Hampton Kirby. He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Kirby Anderson of Denver, NC; son, Michael E. Kirby of Galax; sister, Frances Pasley of Galax; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Edward Pasley and Rev. Ernie Smith officiating. Burial followed in Monta Vista Cemetery.
