Two local men have been arrested and charged with breaking and entering and five counts each of grand larceny.
On Saturday, the Carroll County Sheriffs Office received a call to Sherwood Road in the River Hill area of the county to investigate suspicious vehicles and activity. Sgt. Larry Hall, Sgt. Gary Borne, Deputy Bobby Lyons, Deputy Tony Horton, and New River Trail Officer Patrick Crockett responded to the location. There officers found a Ford truck, which had been stolen at a residential break-in May 5th on Stoneman Road. After interviewing witnesses, Deputy Bobby Lyons arrested Stanley Wayne Cook of Sherwood Road and charged him with Possession of Stolen Property in relation to the recovered Ford truck.
As a result of this arrest and subsequent investigation by Deputy Lyons, Sgt. Hall, and Hillsville Police Officer Robert Martin, two other men were charged. Cory Brandon Sheets, of Howell Mobile Home Park, and Kenneth Ray Elledge, of Saxon Lane in Hillsville, were arrested and charged with breaking and entering, two counts of grand larceny of a firearm, grand larceny of a vehicle (Ford Truck), and two other counts of grand larceny (for a Polaris Mule and power tools).
The Carroll County Sheriffs Department is continuing to follow leads in this case and more arrests are anticipated.
Sheriff Warren Manning would like to thank the concerned citizens for their help in solving this case and would encourage anyone with information to contact the Carroll County Sheriffs Office.
