A 28-year-old Willis man has been arrested in Carroll County after local authorites allegedly found drugs in his vehicle.
On March 14, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received information from Montgomery County that Charlie Wayne Howard was wanted by their agency and was possibly staying at a location on Gator Mountain Road in Carroll County. Members of the Carroll County and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office went to the cabin and found that the suspect had left.
Corporal David Walls was maintaining a watch on one end of Gator Mountain Road and stopped a vehicle identifying the occupant as the suspect, Carroll County Sheriff J.B. Gardner said. The suspect admitted to having a container with marijuana in the vehicle. Inside the container were two small bags of marijuana and two bags of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, Gardner said.
Corporal Walls arrested Howard for Possession of a Schedule I or II drug and driving on a suspended license, two Montgomery County charges of Grand Larceny, and Floyd County charges of Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Controlled Paraphernalia, Gardner said.
Howard was taken to New River Valley Jail with no bond.
