‘Significant amount of cash’ stolen from vendor at VFW

The Hillsville Police Department is searching for an Asian man who is believed to have stolen a notebook binder from inside the Grover King VFW Post #1115 building containing an undisclosed amount of money.

According to Hillsvile Police Department Investigator Junior Alderman, the binder was taken from a vendor’s table set up for the Annual Labor Day Gun Show & Flea Market between 9:15 and 9:40 a.m. Thursday morning. Alderman said the suspect is believed to be carrying a green shoulder bag with a partial leather flap similar to a computer bag with a notebook binder that says currency. He said the binder contains Confederate currency and various older currency. He described the suspect as an Asian man between 5-6 and 5-8 with a slim build. He called the amount of currency stolen “a significant amount.”
