Joy Celesta Bilbrey, 94, of Fries, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at Waddell Nursing Home. Mrs. Bilbrey was born in Virginia on July 16, 1914 to Harvey Isaac and Rebecca Mills Sumner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Bilbrey. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Jerry Edwards of Independence; sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin Bilbrey and Wilburn Bilbrey both of Fries; Harry and Peggy Bilbrey of Stokesdale, NC, Garold and Belinda Bilbrey, Herschel Bilbrey all of Galax, Ravin Bilbrey of Independence; brother, John Sumner of Hawaii; eighteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Mt. Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Blevins and Steve Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt.
