A Hillsville man was arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office after a search of his home on Thursday evening turned up evidence of several illegal activities.
Milton Dale Coulson, 49, of Wildcat Road, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of an untaxed alcoholic beverage and possession of stolen firearms.
After receiving tips, a warrant was issued for the search of Coulson’s home, and it was there that Sheriff Warren Manning, Investigators Fred Bobbitt, Shannon Goad, Venton Smith and Deputies Donnie Spangler, Bobby Melton, Chuck Edwards and K-9 Brenda discovered four ounces of marijuana, approximately 16 gallons of illegal alcohol and six guns that were believed to have stolen from a home in Wytheville.
The warrant, which was obtained by Bobbitt and Smith, was executed in connection with an investigation of suspected selling of untaxed alcohol and drugs at Coulson’s residence.
The investigation is ongoing and Manning said he expects more charges to follow.
Coulson was taken to New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin where he was processed and is free on a $2,500 secure bond. He will appear in Carroll County General District Court on Oct. 3 for his advisement. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 21.
