Taylor Herald ripped a two-run home run and Tazewell limited Carroll County to four hits Friday to earn a 5-1 Southwest District baseball victory over the visiting Cavaliers.

Herald’s two-run shot to center field gave Tazewell (9-4) a quick 2-0 lead it would not relinquish. The Bulldogs added a run in the second inning and two more in the third.

Tazewell starting pitcher Trevor Sargent limited the Cavaliers to four hits and one run in five innings of work. He struck out three before giving way to reliever Jason Canning, who held Carroll County (7-5, 4-4 SWD) scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings.
