Mrs. Clarsie Mae Dawson Combs, 78 of Cana, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2008. She was born in Carroll County on Aug. 8, 1929 to the late George Lester and Sarah Elizabeth Edwards Dawson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McCraw and four brothers, Otto, Will, Alph and Ed Dawson. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Combs of Cana; daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys and Larry Berrier, Janice and Dennie Hawks all of Cana, and Jean and Ivan Vass of Jonesville, NC; two sons, Eddie (Wormie) Combs and Teddy Combs both of Cana; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Sykes, Bertha Brannock, and Myrtle Taylor all of Mt. Airy, and Irene Thompson and Inez Dawson both of Cana; brother, Howard Dawson of Lowgap, NC. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Paul's Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Hawks, Rev. Verlon Combs and Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery.
