Hurley Roland Hawks, 71, of Galax passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at his home. He was born on September 2, 1940 to the late Dennie and Willie Hill Hawks in Fancy Gap. He is survived by his wife, Bula Barr Hawks of the home; three sisters-in-law, Gaynell Thompson of Hillsville, Margaret Bowman of Ararat, VA, Joyce Hawks of Yadkinville, NC; special friend, Rev. James Walker, several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 11:30am at Bluemont Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Hillsville, VA with the Rev. James Walker and Rev. Terry McMillin officiating. Family will receive friends Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at Twin County Funerals. Twin County Funerals is serving the Hawks family.
