Carroll County improved to 5-0 in the Southwest District with a 52-30 road win Friday at Abingdon.

Lindsay Martin paced Carroll County (8-4, 5-0 SWD) with 12 points. Rachel Dalton added 10 points for the Cavaliers, who never allowed Abingdon (4-9, 2-4 SWD) to score baskets on consecutive possessions.

Katelyn Stewart led the Falcons with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Floyd Co. 71, Carroll Co. 46

Four Floyd County players scored in double digits Jan. 17 as the Buffaloes ended Carroll County’s girls’ six-game winning streak with a thud, 71-46 in Floyd.

Leading 33-25 at the half, Floyd County (9-4) took control in the third quarter. The Buffs outscored the Cavaliers 21-9 in that frame to take a commanding 54-34 lead en route to the victory.

Carroll County had been on a tear with six straight wins, including a 49-43 victory over Floyd in Hillsville on Jan. 17. But Krista Cox led all scorers with 18 points, while teammate Emmalene Hale scored 16. Karina Miller and Amanda Hollandsworth each added 10 points for the Buffaloes in the win.

Lindsay Martin paced Carroll County with 10 points, while Rachel Dalton scored 10 for the Cavaliers.
