Man airlifted after being struck by vehicle

A man was airlifted from Noah’s Ark Daycare in Sylvatus at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.Details are limited at the moment but officials on scene said it appeared that the man was struck by a pickup truck when the truck apparently rolled over on him while unloading appliances on private property near Little Vine Road in Carroll County.Early indications are the man suffered compound fractures in both legs. We will have more details as they become available.

Juvenile struck by vehicle in Fries

A 14-year-old female juvenile from Galax is in critical condition after being struck by a car Saturday in Fries.According to Virginia State Police Trooper J.E. Tilson, the accident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. on Route 94 in Fries at the “wayside.” Tilson said the female juvenile was walking in the southbound lane on Route 94 when she was struck by a 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by Ashton Weston, 23, of Statesville, N.C.
