New Carroll school supply lists aim to save parents money

Parents of Carroll County students hoping to save money on school supplies this year probably do not want to go by the school supply lists already available at Walmart in Galax.Like the generic school supply lists that used to available on the Carroll County Public Schools’ website, the lists at Walmart are outdated. In an effort to save parents money, Carroll County Public Schools has asked each of the county’s elementary schools to provide its own individualized list for the upcoming school year.

Governor announces 250 new jobs for Grayson County

RICHMOND - Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that Core Health & Fitness LLC, a leader in developing and marketing advanced strength and cardio equipment for the fitness industry, will invest $2 million to expand the former Med-Fit operation in Grayson County. The facility has manufactured Nautilus commercial products for more than 34 years. Virginia successfully competed against California and China for the project, which will create 250 new jobs.

Woman charged with DUI after crashing over embankment

An Alabama woman has been charged with DUI and reckless driving after she crashed her vehicle over a steep embankment Sunday evening in Hillsville and had to be airlifted from the scene.According to Virginia State Police Senior Trooper K.D. Woman airlifted Sunday from Coon Ridge wreck

An out-of-state woman was airlifted Sunday evening following a one-vehicle accident in the Coon Ridge section of Carroll County. Carroll PSA wins federal appeal

Carroll County Public Service Authority (PSA) Chairman Sam Dickson announced Monday that a Federal Appeals Hearing Officer has reversed federal funding agency Rural Development’s decision that the PSA improperly used funds allocated in the Fancy Gap Sewer Project for construction of the Joy Ranch Road sewer line extension. As a result, the PSA will receive $266,167.20 in a refund from Rural Development.
