Lineberry signs with Shenandoah University
Carroll County’s Tyler Lineberry will be joining high school teammates Ryan Gravley and Austin Horton in playing basketball next season at an Old Dominion Athletic Conference school. Lineberry, a 6-7 post player for the Cavaliers’ Region IV championship basketball team, signed his letter of intent May 28 to play basketball at Shenandoah University in Winchester. Chris Smoot, an offensive and defensive standout for Carroll County High School this past football season, has signed to play for Emory & Henry College. Smoot’s other finalists were Concord University and Cumberland University. Ryan Gravley, Carroll County’s first Region Player of the Year since 1981, has signed to continue his basketball career at Emory& Henry College. Gravley, who was also the Southwest District Player of the Year, led Carroll to the district and regional titles. Not only did Carroll County’s softball team advance to the Region IV Semifinals with a win Tuesday at Patrick County, the Cavaliers will now host the regional semifinals Thursday, May 30. Durnil paves way as Carroll advances in Region IV softball
Although she got plenty of help from her teammates, Eden Durnil did a little bit of everything for Carroll County’s softball team May 27 in a 12-7 win over Bassett in Hillsville in a first-round Region IV playoff game.
