The new wing of the Carroll County Intermediate School was dedicated during ceremony at the school on April 2. The dedication opened with an assembly in the gymnasium and proceeded with a tour of the new wing.

During his opening comments, Superintendent Dr. Strader Blankenship said, “The people of Carroll County have made a tremendous investment in the students” with the addition of the new wing. He added, “It’s up the the citizens to pay for this project and we need to thank them.”

Brian Spencer, chairman of the Carroll County School Board, called the dedication of the new wing “A great day,” but pointed out that “As we celebrate our successes we must remember the challenges that lay ahead.”

Present and former members of the school board and the Carroll County Board of Supervisors attended the ceremony, as did the central office staff, Carroll County Board of Supervisors, Hillsville Town Council, and the architects and contractors who designed and built the new wing.

Jade Snow, SCA president, led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance; the school band played the “National Anthem” and the chorus sang “My County Tis of Thee.”

Why don’t countries like us?
