On May 6th, the Carroll County Historical Society met to hold its annual meeting and to confirm the election of new board members and officers.
Part of that meeting’s agenda was the awarding of a Certificate of Appreciation to Shelby I. Puckett who has been a member of the Carroll County Historical Society Board since its founding on February 17, 1982. Puckett is leaving the Board to pursue her interests with historical issues in Patrick County where she resides in “The Hollow.” The Board also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to Ron Hall, who is also leaving the Board after having been a member for a number of years. Hall is known most widely as an author of the book on “The Courthouse Tragedy” and for other historical writings about Carroll County. Shelby and Ron have contributed greatly to the Carroll County Museum’s development and to the documenting of the history of Carroll County. Their knowledge and energy will be missed.
