A 37-year-old Cana man has been arrested for felony breaking and entering in the Orchard Gap section of Carroll County.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Joey Allen Dalton was arrested Monday, July 23 for felony breaking and entering and petit larceny. At 8:22 a.m. that day, Carroll County received a call from a citizen in Orchard Gap reporting that while he was away someone had broken into his home. Deputy Sheriff Brian Felts responded to the residence where it was determined that a suspect had entered the home by pulling the window frame out and gaining access into a back bedroom.

Several items had been moved and a firearm along with several knives had been stolen. Deputy Felts put out a BOLO and had Virginia State Police respond with a K-9 unit. The K-9 unit followed a trail from victim’s residence to a trailer park that was located near the home, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The BOLO led Chief Deputy Gary Bourne and Investigator Donnie Spangler to locate a suspect along the roadside near the trailer park where the K-9 had tracked to.

Several items from the crime scene were located on the suspect, who confessed to breaking into the residence. Dalton was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering and petit larceny. After further investigation, Investigator Kevin Kemp obtained additional felony breaking and entering and grand larceny charges relating to an incident on Bear Trail which occurred July 16.

Dalton is incarcerated in the New River Valley Jail with no bond pending arraignment.

Why don’t countries like us?
Ever wonder which countries hate the United States the most. We are hated by a lot of countries, but we really can’t help it. We were just born with a strong personality and, quite possibly, a bi-polar disorder. Nevertheless, we are hated, that’s for sure. Either other countries want us to stay ...
