A two-car accident on Deer Ridge Road Friday injured four people, with at least one being air-lifted to an area hospital. The accident happened at 3:55 p.m., two-tenths of a mile from Double Cabin Road in the Mitchell’s Crossroads section of Carroll County.
A 2008 Hummer driven by Kandice Wagoner of Deer Ridge Road crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer being driven by Sylvia Taylor of Double Cabin Road, Virginia State Police Trooper J.D. Delp wrote in the accident report. In all, four people were injured in the accident.
Wagoner was charged with driving under the influence of drugs by Delp.
An accident Sunday in Laurel Fork resulted in two people being transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
According to State Trooper Shon Phillips, a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Janice Green of Laurel Fork Road, traveling on Laurel Fork Road, pulled out in front of a 1997 Ford Taurus Wagon being driven by Amber Bobbitt of Meadows of Dan, which was traveling west on U.S. 58.
Bobbitt suffered two broken ankles and a 15-year-old minor passenger suffered a broken leg in the accident, Phillips said. Both were taken to Twin County Regional Hospital and later transferred to Baptist. Bobbitt’s husband, Justin, received minor injuries, and two other passengers, both children, were unhurt.
Green had to be cut out of her vehicle, which ended up on top of Bobbitt’s vehicle. She was transported to Twin County and later released.
Green was charged with failing to yield the right of way by State Trooper Shon Phillips.
