William Rush Horton, 88, of Galax, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 in Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born in Carroll County on Dec. 17, 191 to John Willie and Dora Alice Banks Horton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Martin and Clara Richardson and one brother, Foy Horton. He is survived by his wife, Maudine Horton; one daughter and one son. The funeral service was held Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial followed in Felts Memorial Cemetery. A guestbook is available at www.vaughanguynn.com. Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
