The Hale Wilkinson Carter Home in Hillsville is hosting a Holiday Expo on Saturday, October 26 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. The event, free and open to the public, is a fundraiser for the organization to help offset the large fuel bill incurred each winter.
Numerous vendors will offer a variety of products such as hand-stitched quilts by Peggy Mabe, handmade jewelry by Katie Shockley, baked goods by Polly Jenkins, stained glass by Roxanne Kamoda, handmade wooden cutting boards by Larry Funk, gourd crafts by Jeanette Roth. Smadar Chaffee will be exhibiting photography and fine art by her son Matan.
In addition to art and craft vendors, Mary Sechrist will have Stanley products available to sale; Sue Reedy will offer Tupperware; Linda Hines will offer Scentsi Candles; and Wanda Bowman will be selling Sabiha Jewelry.
Attendees will be eligible for Door Prizes donated by each vendor. You do not have to be present to will. Other fundraising activities include a 50-50 Drawing, a Cake Raffle and the sale of barbeque chicken sandwiches, desserts and drinks.
The Hale-Wilkinson-Carter Home Foundation preserves “The Home”, a historical museum, and informs the general public about the cultural heritage of southwest Virginia by promoting artistic, educational and intellectual events. Hours to tour the Home, located at 405 North Main Street, Hillsville, vary, but Mayetta’s Market Gift Shop located on the first floor is open 11:00-4:00 Thursdays and Fridays and 11:00-2:00 on Saturdays.
