A Carroll County Grand Jury handed down 132 indictments Monday, including two against Pamela Denise Peaks.

Peaks was indicted Monday for one count each of aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the January 26th shooting of James Parnell Peaks. According to the malicious wounding indictment, on January 26th Pamela Denise Peaks “did unlawfully, feloniously and maliciously wound James Parnell Peaks, with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable or kill, resulting in a severe injury to James Parnell Peaks, which also caused him to suffer permanent and significant physical impairment.”

Pamela Denise Peaks, 47, was charged January 26th after a shooting that investigators said at the time appeared to stem from a domestic dispute. At approximately 2 p.m. that day, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a possible gunshot wound at 2472 Carrollton Pike. When deputies arrived on scene, they found James Parnell Peaks, 48, lying on the side of the road with a gunshot wound. He was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

An indictment is a formal charge, not a finding of guilt.
