Woodlawn man charged with grand larceny in stolen vehicle case
A 28-year-old Woodlawn man has been charged with grand larceny involving a stolen vehicle in Hillsville in November.
According to Hillsville Police Chief Greg Bolen, his office arrested and charged Roger Dean Bowen of Woodlawn with grand larceny in the theft of a 1993 Ford Fiesta owned by Nelson Crowder. Bolen said the vehicle was stolen from Hillsville between November 16 and 17.
“We had been looking for it, and during the investigation we posted it on our Facebook page looking for some tips,” Bolen said. “Investigator Alan Gravley worked on it and I can’t say enough about him. He really went to town on this case, ran down a bunch of leads and found enough information to make an arrest.”
Bolen said Bowen cooperated fully with police on the matter. The car was found abandoned on Dugspur Road in the Laurel Fork section of Carroll County. Bowen was taken before a magistrate and sent to the New River Valley Regional Jail on a $2,000 secured bond, Bolen said.
