A Hillsville woman has been apprehended after trying to escape from the Carroll County Governmental Complex Friday morning following an arrest for a probation violation.

According to Carroll County Probation Officer Brian Ragland, Brittany Dawn Elledge, 24, of Hillsville had been issued a probation warrant without bond for a probation violation relating to credit card fraud Friday at about 10:30 a.m. when she tried to escape the Carroll County Governmental Complex. Ragland said Elledge only made it to the parking lot in front of the complex before she was apprehended by officers from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Ragland said Elledge was facing a five years suspended sentence for credit card fraud before she took off. He said she would now be transported to New River Valley Regional Jail, where she will most likely face a felony charge of escape.
