Two people were airlifted after a two-car collision Thursday afternoon at the bottom of Fattis Hill in Carroll County.

According to Virginia State Police Trooper P.K. Cheek, the accident occurred at 3:44 p.m. at the intersection of Glendale Road and U.S. 58. Cheek said Dominque Reeves, 27, of Galax, failed to yield right of way when she pulled off of Glendale Road onto U.S. 58 East when she hit a 1995 Dodge Dakota driven by Thomas Sturdivant, Jr., 37, of Woodlawn. Sturdivant was travelling westbound on U.S. 58 when the T-bone collision occurred, Cheek said.

The trooper said Reeves was transported to Roanoke by helicopter, while Sturdivant was airlifted to Winston-Salem, N.C. by helicopter. Two passengers, one from each vehicle, were also transported by ambulance to Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax. Cheek said he did not know the condition of any of the injured as of Thursday evening. He said charges are pending in the accident.

The Pipers Gap Rescue Squad, Carroll County Fire & EMS and Galax Fire Department all responded to the scene.
