A Hillsville woman escaped injuries Thursday after her vehicle spun under a logging truck in a two-vehicle accident in Hillsville.

According to Hillsville Police Department Officer S.J. Brady, the accident occurred at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday morning on Archa Street in Hillsville. He said John White, 58, of Hillsville, was driving a logging truck for L&R Logging heading north on Archa Street toward U.S. 52. White was going up the hill at a very slow speed due to be loaded down with logs, Brady said. He said Kaitlyn Faircloth, 25, of Hillsville, was following behind in a 2010 Toyota RAV4.

“She was coming up behind it, looked down, looked back up and didn’t realize he was going that slow,” Brady said. “She swerved to miss it and hit the edge of the trailer. When she hit it, it kind of spun around her vehicle and she spun under it.”

Brady estimated damages to Faircloth’s vehicle at $8,000. Fortunately, neither driver was injured in the accident.

“She was very lucky,” Brady said.

No charges have been filed in the accident, Brady added.
