July 3, 2014

On Wednesday, July 2, the Hillsville Police Department charged two Hillsville residents with multiple charges following the execution of a search warrant.

Captain James Alderman, Sgt. Alan Gravley, Officer Wesley Yonce, Officer Billy Anauo, and Officer Shannon Goad with the Hillsville Police Department executed the search warrant obtained by Sgt. Gravley on the residence of Annette Freeman, 29, and Arless Dalton, Jr., 34, in the Town of Hillsville. As a result of his investigation, Sgt. Gravley charged Dalton with breaking and entering, grand larceny, and obtaining money by false pretenses, Captain Alderman said in a press release. Officer Yonce arrested Dalton at the scene and also charged him with felony child endangerment and neglect.

Captain Alderman arrested Freeman and charged her with possession of a Schedule I or II drug, and felony child endangerment based on his observations and statements obtained at the residence during the execution of the search warrant, Alderman said.

“The search warrant was the result of information obtained by Sgt. Gravley involving an earlier burglary in the town in which the victim reported the theft of jewelry and prescription drugs,” Alderman said in the press release. “More changes may follow as the result of this information received by the department. The Hillsville Police Department would like to thank Carroll County Sheriff’s Department Canine Officer David Walls and Carroll County Social Services for assisting them.”
