John Lewis Griffin, 86, of Austinville, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 24, 2013. Born in Carroll County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Bruce and Alverta Beasley Griffin. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ellis Griffin, Glenn Griffin, and Brooks Griffin, and infant brother Owen Ralph Griffin. Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Elsie Griffin of Hillsville, Coolidge Griffin of Austinville, and Rush B. and Kathleen Griffin of Austinville; sister, Lydia Towe of Cana; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 2:00 PM with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Beasley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service and at other times at the home of Effie (Griffin) Thompson, 6319 Coulson Church Road, Austinville, VA 24312. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Thomas Beasley Cemetery or Laurel Rescue Squad c/o Effie Thompson 6319 Coulson Church Road, Austinville, VA 24312.
