Carroll Co. Soccer Association celebrating 25th anniversary

Without much fanfare, the Carroll County Soccer Association (CCSA) started in 1989 despite very little interest in the sport in the county at that time.Now, 25 years later, the organization’s impact can be seen all over the Twin Counties as several high school coaches in the area were introduced to the sport through the league. Over the past quarter of a century, the CCSA has grown from having less than 50 players its first couple of seasons to nearly 600 now.

Alderman receives Pam Horton Memorial Scholarship

Megan Alderman is the 31st recipient of the Pam Horton Memorial Scholarship.Alderman is the daughter of Lynn Branscome Alderman. A 2014 CCHS graduate, Alderman played three varsity sports - volleyball, basketball and tennis. She was a starter for all three of these sports as well as being captain of all three. She was the only female at CCHS that played three varsity sports and was selected as Female Athlete of the Year.

Carroll tennis courts get complete overhaul

A complete overhaul of the tennis courts at Carroll County High School is scheduled to be completed by the time school starts on Aug. 7.Due to large cracks in the playing surfaces, the tennis courts at CCHS have been shut down on two different occasions over the past 18 months.
